GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (10/26/24)  -  The Franklin Pierce volleyball program found itself on the short end of an NE10 conference matchup Saturday afternoon, falling to the Panthers of Adelphi University, 3-0.

Score: Adelphi 3, FPU 0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-19)
Records: FPU: 2-14 (0-6 NE10), Adelphi 16-7 (5-1 NE10)
Location: Center for Recreation and Sport, Garden City, N.Y.
Date: Saturday, October 26, 2024

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The set opened with a back-and-forth exchange of points, but Adelphi gained control after a service ace by Kambel Fiser. Franklin Pierce responded with kills from Avery LeBlanc (Exeter, R.I) and Kennedie Manning (New Braunfels, Texas), but multiple service errors disrupted their rhythm. Adelphi secured their lead, and despite a service ace from LeBlanc late in the set, the Ravens couldn't close the gap and would drop set one, 25-16.

  • The Raven's fight was evident as LeBlanc added another key kill, and Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.) set up multiple scoring opportunities. However, service errors and attack misfires disrupted Franklin Pierce's rhythm, allowing Adelphi to pull ahead. A late push from the Ravens wasn't enough, as Adelphi's Kambel Fiser and Delaney Kiendra continued to dominate the set with precise playmaking. The Ravens continued to battle but ultimately fell short, 25-15, putting them in a 0-2 deficit in the match.

  • Adelphi's balanced attack kept the pressure on Franklin Pierce. While the Ravens rallied with a late push – highlighted by a service ace from Julia Felgenhauer () - costly errors, including service and attack miscues, allowed Adelphi to maintain control. Despite a determined effort, Franklin Pierce fell to Adelphi 25-19 in the third and final set, as the Panthers completed a 3-0 sweep.

INSIDE THE LINES:

  • Lindstrom had 14 assists.

  • LeBlanc had a team high .600 hitting percentage.

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Franklin Pierce volleyball team continues on the road as they travel to Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, October 29th. The match is set for 5 PM.
