Women’s Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (10/12/24) - Franklin Pierce University's volleyball team faced a tough 3-0 defeat against Pace University in a well-fought NE10 matchup. Despite a good showing from the Ravens, they could not holf off against Pace. 

RECORDS: 

  • FPU: 2-11 (0-3 NE10)
  • Pace: 6-6 (1-1 NE10)  
 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Pace took an early edge, building a small but steady lead throughout the first set. A standout moment for Franklin Pierce came when Annaka Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.), supported by Avery Leblanc (Exeter, R.I.) delivered a kill to bring the Ravens close at 7-7. However, Pace pulled away in the latter stages, with key contributions from Karielys Melendez and Abby Robertson to secure a 25-17 win. 
  • Franklin Pierce came out strong in the second set, taking a 5-3 lead thanks to Martina Spackova's (Bratislava, Slovakia) block and a kill by Kori Garnhart (Colorado Springs, Colo.). Pace quickly responded with aggressive plays from Muhammad and Melendez, regaining control of the set. Despite late efforts by Kennedie Manning (New Braunfels, Texas) and Katholiki Koukia(Rhodes, Greece) to keep the Ravens in the game, Pace surged forward to take the set 25-11. 
  • The final set was the most closely contested. Franklin Pierce managed to keep pace with their opponent, narrowing the scoreline to 22-24 after a late push led by Lilyanna Petrocelli (Merrimack, N.H.) and Lindstrom. Unfortunately, Pace closed out the match with a kill from Robertson, ending the set 25-22 and sealing the 3-0 victory. 

INSIDE THE LINES:  

  • Koukia led the team with seven kills.  
  • Lindstrom had a team-high 19 assists.  

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens return to Rindge next Friday when they host the Chargers of University of New Haven. The match is set for 6 PM.
