CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 23, 2022) -- With the Penn Relays on tap in the coming week, the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team was tuning up on Saturday at the Sean Collier Invitational, hosted by MIT. Freshman Nouhayla Errahili (Fes, Morocco) highlighted the day for the Ravens, as she hit the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark in the high jump.

Errahili got up and over 1.73 meters to win the high jump, with a mark which leads the NE10 and is tied for ninth in the nation with just three weeks to go in the season. She was joined in the event by senior Paola Brena (Queretaro, Mexico), who got up and over 1.63 meters, to take second and move to third in the NE10.

In the 200-meter dash, junior Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.) took second for her 25.10-second time. In the 800 meters, senior Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.) took second for her 2:19 run, which is good for fifth in the NE10. With her was sophomore Meghan Sheline (Southington, Conn.), who took seventh for her 2:26 time. Behind her was graduate student Alena Masterson (Pelham, N.H.), who took ninth with a time of 2:29.

Brianha Bouchard took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles for her 16.48-second performance. She also took ninth in the 400-meter hurdles for her 1:10 time. Junior Victoria Van Houten (Wantage, N.J.) took second in the 3000-meter steeplechase for her 12:29 time. The 4x400-meter relay team consisted of graduate student Julia Cormier (Northwood, N.H.), Masterson, Thompson and Sheline, who took third for their 4:24 time.

In the shot put, sophomore Tyra Felton (Sterling, Mass.) took fourth for her 11.83-meter throw. Senior Samantha DeSouza (Sebago, Maine) took sixth in the event for her 11.35-meter throw. In the discus, graduate student Katerina Dajia (Aurora, Ontario) took sixth for her 34.91-meter throw. After throwing the hammer 43.50 meter, senior Julia Groll (Southington, Conn.) claimed eighth, with a mark which ranks fourth in the NE10. Finishing out competition for the day was senior Jessica Brewster (Castleton, Vt.), who claimed second in the javelin for her 33.75-meter throw.

Next week, the Ravens will have select athletes in action at the Penn Relays on April 28-30, while the rest of the team heads to Southern Connecticut State on Saturday, for the Jim Barber and Jack Maloney Tri-Meet.
