Telfer Shines for Women’s Track & Field on First Day of NEICAAA Championships

Paola Brena

BOSTON (February 1, 2019) – Senior CeCe Telfer (Lebanon, N.H.) advanced to the final of two events on Friday, to highlight the first day of the NEICAAA Championships for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team.

Telfer's strongest performance came in the 200-meter dash, where she took part in the third heat of the event. She put together a time of 24.33 seconds, which was the fastest preliminary time on the day. This came after her performance in the 60-meter hurdles, where Telfer won her heat as well, as she led the fourth heat of the event across the line in 8.72 seconds. It was the fourth-fastest time of the eight who qualified for Saturday's final.

Elsewhere on Friday for the Ravens, freshman Paola Brena (Queretaro, Mexico) was in action in the high jump, where she finished ninth by clearing 1.66 meters. She was not the only freshman to represent the Ravens, as Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.) took part in the 500 meters. Thompson finished fourth in the fourth heat, with a time of 1:20.90, which was good for a 23rd-place finish.

Telfer will be back on the track for the finals of both the 60-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash on Saturday, at the second day of the NEICAAA Championships. The rest of the Ravens will be in action on Saturday at the Panther Invitational, hosted by Plymouth State University in Plymouth, N.H.
