PLYMOUTH, N.H. (January 20, 2018) – Four different Ravens collected individual event victories on Saturday, as the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team finished in first place at the Panther Invitational, hosted by Plymouth State University.

In all, the Ravens piled up 146 points to post a narrow, three-point victory at the meet. Eastern Connecticut State finished second (141 points), while fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Southern New Hampshire placed third (120 points).

Graduate student Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) had the strongest performance among the four winners on Saturday for the Ravens. She matched her season best with a run of 9.18 seconds to win the 60-meter hurdles. The time met the NEICAAA Championships qualifying standard in the event, though Galewski had already punched her ticket to the meet earlier in the year.

At a much longer distance, sophomore Rebecca Zylak (Goffstown, N.H.) took home first place in the 5000 meters, with a time of 19:41.05. The time currently is good for fifth in the NE10 and seventh in the East Region.

Franklin Pierce's other two wins came in field events. Sophomore Olivia Mabbett (Milford, N.H.) took first place in the high jump by getting up and over 1.52 meters, while senior Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) was victorious in the weight throw with a heave of 15.58 meters.

Several other Ravens also posted noteworthy marks on the day. Sophomore Julia Cormier (Northwood, N.H.) finished second behind Zylak in the 5000 meters (19:51.36), with a time which is good for sixth in the NE10 and eighth in the East Region. Meanwhile, sophomore Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.) placed second in the shot put, with a throw of 12.15 meters. The mark was not a season best, but was on par with the top-10 throws in the NE10 in the event this winter.

Finally, the Franklin Pierce 4x800-meter relay team scored a second-place finish on Saturday. An all-underclassman quartet of sophomore Daijanique White (Hartford, Conn.), sophomore Meghan Tarr (Atkinson, N.H.), freshman Marisa Carbone (Scarborough, Maine) and freshman Megan Holland (Clermont, Fla.) turned in a time of 10:39.90, which currently ranks third in both the NE10 and the East Region.

The Ravens return to action on Sunday, Jan. 21, when they travel to the GBTC Invitational in Boston.
