Track & Field Has Four Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Accolades; Teams Honored as Well

RINDGE, N.H. (August 10, 2018) – Graduate student Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) and senior Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team, along with freshman Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) and graduate student Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) of the men’s team, have all earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as announced earlier this summer by the USTFCCCA. In addition, both the men’s and women’s squads were honored as All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA.

The event amounted to a tri-meet, as only the Ravens, host Blue Devils, and the University of Hartford were in attendance.

(April 21, 2018) – Freshman Alyssa Harris (Billerica, Mass.) came calling for a pair of program records on Saturday, as she set new school bests in the 100- and 200-meter dashes for the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team. Junior Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) added a school record in the triple jump, as the Ravens set three new program records at the UAlbany Spring Classic, hosted by the University at Albany.

(April 14, 2018) – Graduate student Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) notched a school record and hit the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard while winning the heptathlon on Saturday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field day on the second day of the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College. Ultimately, the Ravens finished 12th, out of 19 teams to score at the meet.

NO QUIT IN HER: Galewski Finds Success While Battling Spinal Condition

When it comes to injuries, athletes can often be stubborn in dealing with their diagnosis. For Nicole Galewski, it was no different. A graduate student and native of Whitman, Massachusetts, Galewski is one of the Franklin Pierce women’s track & field team’s most seasoned athletes. A record holder and multi-event competitor, Galewski has established herself as among the program’s best despite dealing with subluxation degeneration, a condition which affects specific areas of the spine, causing nerve interference.
