Women’s Tennis Falls to Roberts Wesleyan, 9-0
RINDGE, N.H. (March 31, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated at home on Saturday, 9-0, by Roberts Wesleyan in non-conference play.
With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 2-19, while Roberts Wesleyan improves to 9-9.
Of the three doubles matches, Franklin Pierce was most competitive at first doubles. Sophomore Alana Wyatt (Worcester, Mass.) and senior Sonia Rodrigues (Swansea, Mass.) held their own, but ultimately dropped an 8-6 decision to Roberts Wesleyan juniors Nthabi Mogopodi and Andrea Gallardo.
Roberts Wesleyan also took all six singles matches to finish off the 9-0 victory. The closest of the six came at sixth singles, where junior Shelli Safran (Boxborough, Mass.) was downed by freshman Bijisha Shrestha, 8-5.
All six Roberts Wesleyan players were victorious in both singles and doubles play on Saturday.
The Ravens return to the court on Friday, April 6, when they travel to Holy Cross for a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m. in Worcester, Mass.
