SYRACUSE, N.Y. (October 7, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated, 7-2, on Friday afternoon on the road at Le Moyne, in Northeast-10 Conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 2-10 (2-9 Northeast-10), while Le Moyne improves to 4-8 (3-6 Northeast-10).

Franklin Pierce picked up wins on Friday at fifth and sixth singles to collect its two points on the day. At fifth singles, freshman Kelly O'Donnell (Maywood, N.J.) took a straight-set, 6-3, 7-6 (4) victory over Le Moyne freshman Cameron Aiello. Meanwhile, at sixth singles, a tiebreak set was required, as junior Maria Quagliano (Branford, Conn.) squeaked past freshman Mackenzie Aiello, 6-1, 1-6, 10-8.

For the Dolphins, there were four different players who picked up wins in both singles and doubles play on the afternoon. It was junior Rithika Vajjiravelu who led the way, by posting wins at first singles and second doubles. At first singles, she rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Earlier, at second doubles, Vajjiravelu had teamed with senior Christina Perry for an 8-0 sweep.

The Ravens return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 8, when they travel to Saint Rose for a Northeast-10 contest at 10 a.m. in Albany, N.Y.
