Women’s Tennis Falls To Assumption, 8-1
Alexander and Smilovich team to win doubles match

Lauren Smilovich teamed with Drew Alexander to win a doubles match
on Sunday against Assumption.RINDGE, N.H. (October 12, 2008) –
The Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team concluded
the fall portion of its 2008-09 schedule on Sunday afternoon with
an 8-1 loss at home to Assumption in Northeast-10 conference
play.
Freshman Drew Alexander (Long
Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) and sophomore Lauren Smilovich (Meriden, Conn./Sacred Heart
Academy) teamed to win the only point of the day for the
Ravens. The duo defeated junior Caitlin Harvey (Rutland,
Mass./Wachusett) and freshman Jaclyn Huban (Dalton, Mass./Saint
Joseph’s) of Assumption, 8-6.
A quartet of freshmen did most of the damage on the afternoon for
Assumption. Marissa Charles (Mystic, Conn./Saint Bernard), Jennifer
Erickson (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury), Melissa Ferry (Cumberland,
R.I./Mt. St. Charles) and Samantha Jean (Bedford, N.H./Manchester
West) were all victorious in both singles and doubles.
The Ravens conclude their fall schedule with a 1-5 record,
including 1-4 in the Northeast-10. Assumption (2-1, 2-1 NE-10) has
concluded its fall schedule as well.
