Ravens Cruise to 7-1 Win Over Roberts Wesleyan
RINDGE, N.H. (10/30/24) – The Franklin Pierce Ravens women's soccer scored a touchdown in the first half and capped it off with an extra point in the second, leading to a dominant 7-1 performance over the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks in non-conference play at Sodexo Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Ravens wasted no time getting on the scoresheet in the first half, striking first in the 39th minute. Sophomore midfielder Emily Schmolke (Boesel, Germany) dished a beautiful through ball to junior midfielder Claudia Peirce (Carver, Mass.) who glided past two defenders and fired it off her left foot into the right corner, giving the Ravens the early 1-0 lead.

The Ravens added to their lead just a minute and a half later. Graduate midfielder Gianna Derose (Brewster, N.Y.) connected with Emily Schmolke, who laid it off for junior midfielder Olivia Crespo (Ludlow, Mass.) who ripped a shot from the 18 and buried it in the left corner, putting the Ravens up 2-0.

It continued to be a long afternoon for the Redhawks. Just 2:13 after Crespo's goal, Claudia Peirce added her 2nd goal of the day. She dribbled the ball past a defender in the middle of the field and rocked a shot that beat the keeper in the middle of the goal, giving the Ravens the commanding 3-0 lead.

The Ravens wouldn't stop there. Freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Bautista (Scurry, Texas) connected with graduate defender Aino Martikainen (Jarvenpaa, Finland) who fired a shot that was redirected by freshman midfielder Mikayla Horton (East Islip, N.Y.) into the goal, gifting the Ravens the 4-0 lead.

The bleeding continued for the Redhawks in the first half. Senior forward Erin Keyt (Melbourne, Australia) settled the ball and zipped it into the right corner of the goal, padding the Ravens lead 5-0. Freshman midfielder Chastain Cassidy (Commack, N.Y.) and Kaitlyn Bautista were credited with the assist.

The Ravens continued to pour it on in the first half, capping it off with another goal. Kaitlyn Bautista lofted a beautiful ball for junior forward Grace Martin (Millbury, Mass.) who flicked it with her left foot into the right corner, securing the 6-0 lead going into the halftime break.

The Redhawks scored their lone goal in the second half courtesy of Luiza Junior Dos Santos.

The Ravens finished off their dominant performance with another goal from Erin Keyt, as Mikayla Horton provided the assist, capping off the 6-1 win for the Ravens.
