SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 18, 2021) -- For the second time in four days, the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team dealt American International a one-goal loss. This time, it was a 2-1 victory for the Ravens on the road, at AIC's Abdow Field. Freshman Hailey Goodman (Blackstone, Mass.) scored both goals in the win for Franklin Pierce, and has now scored three times in two games to begin her collegiate career.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 2-0-0 in its spring campaign, while AIC falls to 4-2-1, with both losses coming at the hands of the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce opened the scoring in the 27th minute, as Goodman netted her second goal in as many games to open her career. The unassisted tally would provide the only scoring of the first half.

On the other side of halftime, AIC evened things up in the 57th minute. Junior Josefine Stendahl stood over a free kick 25 yards from goal and blasted it into the top-left corner, out of the reach of Franklin Pierce freshman keeper Kasey Donnelly (New Milford, Conn.).

The Ravens reclaimed the lead in the 74th minute, as Goodman tallied her first multiple-goal game at the collegiate level. Taking a corner kick from the left side, she was able to curl the ball all the way into the far side of the net, over the leap of AIC sophomore keeper Olivia Sousa. The goal would stand as the game-winner, after the remainder of the contest went without further scoring.

Donnelly (2-0-0) finished with nine saves against 10 shots on her goal to pick up the win in net for Franklin Pierce. At the other end of the field, Sousa (0-1-0) surrendered goals on the only two shots on her net.
