UC-San Diego repeats with 2-0 win over Christian Brothers in title match

LA JOLLA, Calif. (December 2, 2001) - University of California San Diego netted two second half goals to post a 2-0 victory over Christian Brothers University and claim its third-straight NCAA Women's Soccer Title on Sunday.

The Tritons captured their second-straight Division II Championship after claiming the Division III crown in 1999. UCSD stifled the top offense in NCAA women's soccer history, holding a Buccaneers side that had scored a record 166 goals this season without a goal.

Franklin Pierce juniors Patricia Keeldar (Amsterdam, Holland/Ter Leede) and Kamille Rosenfalck (Copenhagen, Denmark/Frederiksburg Boldklub) were both named to the All-Tournament team on Sunday.

Keeldar netted the Ravens lone goal in their 4-1 semifinal loss to Christian Brothers, while Rosenfalck was superb defending CBU junior Missy Gregg, who netted an NCAA Division II record 73 goals this season.

The Ravens rounded out its season with a 22-1 record overall, setting a school-record for victories in a season and matching the NCAA Division II mark. Franklin Pierce claimed the Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament championships this fall and advanced to the Final Four for an NCAA Division II record tenth-straight season.
