Franklin Pierce Dominates AIC in 23-12 Victory

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (3/26/25) - The Franklin Pierce women's lacrosse team earned their first NE10 conference win with a dominant 23-12 victory over AIC on Wednesday night in the Haudenosaunee Heritage Game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Ravens set the tone early, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes with goals from Riley Beem (Windham, Maine), Olivia Robb (East Longmeadow, Mass.), and Courtney Hannes (Tyngsborough, Mass.). American International fought back, cutting the deficit to 4-2, but Franklin Pierce responded with a 3-1 run to close the quarter, leading 7-3.
  • Franklin Pierce continued to build momentum in the second quarter, extending their lead to 12-6 by halftime. Hayley Hermsdorf (Center Moriches, N.Y.) led the attack with a goal and two assists in the period, while Erin McIlroy (Newfields, N.H.) added two goals of her own.
  • The Ravens took full control in the third quarter, outscoring AIC 7-4. Robb completed her hat trick, and McIlroy added her fourth goal of the game to push the lead to 19-10 heading into the final frame.
  • In the fourth, Franklin Pierce sealed the win with a 4-2 scoring advantage. McIlroy finished with a game-high five goals, while Hermsdorf recorded an impressive 11-point performance (4 goals, 7 assists). Robb and Maura Cogavin (Franklin, Mass.) each added four goals, while Beem and Hannes netted two apiece.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • Franklin Pierce outshot AIC 48-18 and held a 26-13 advantage in draw controls.
  • The Ravens' defense forced 19 turnovers, led by McIlroy's three caused turnovers.
  • Freshman goalie Olivia Godwin (Hanson, Mass.) earned the win, making three saves in the second half.
  • Hermsdorf earned a career-high 11 points on four goals and seven assists.
