Women's Lacrosse: Ravens Score Season High 12 Goals but Fall to Southern New Hampshire

HOOKSETT, NH (3/22/2024) – The Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team tallied a season high 12 goals Friday afternoon but fell to their intrastate rival Southern New Hampshire University, 18-12. Four Ravens tallied two goals or more led by senior midfielder Kayli Hoefs who netted four of her own.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Southern New Hampshire went up early scoring 56 seconds into the game which lead to three unanswered goals from the Penmen. In the final four minutes of the first quarter, Erin McIlroy (Newfields, NH) and Hayley Hermsdorf (Center Moriches, NY) each grabbed a goal but the Penman countered with two more to make it a 5-2 game.
  • The Ravens battled in the second quarter grabbing back-to-back unassisted goals from Riley Beem (Windham, ME) and McIlroy. SNHU then capitalized on a pair of free position shots and an unassisted goal to close out the first half with a 7-4 lead.
  • Offensive units for both teams punched the gas pedal in the third quarter for a combined ten goals. Kayli Hoefs (Amsterdam, NY) led with two goals as Beem, Hermsdorf and Olivia Robb (East Longmeadow, MA) all grabbed a goal each. Heading into the final quarter, the Ravens trailed 13-9.
  • The Penman scored just a minute into the fourth quarter, but the Ravens responded two minutes later with another set of back-to-back goals from Hoefs and Olivia DeLonais (North Andover, MA) to cut the lead to three. 19 seconds later, former Franklin Pierce women's lacrosse player Katelyn Hadden scored her fifth goal of the game to give the Penmen the four-goal lead. After five minutes without a goal from either team, Hoefs grabbed her fourth of the game to make it 15-12. In the final two minutes, SNHU's Skylar Renaud scored twice on two free position shots. SNHU grabbed a final goal with just over a minute left which put the Ravens away 18-12 b.
  • On the offensive side of the ball, Kayli Hoefs led the Ravens with four goals and one assist for a combined five points. Riley Beem put together as solid day on both sides of the ball with two goals, one assists, three ground balls and seven draw controls. Erin McIlroy also made an impact with two goals, one assist, one ground ball and five draw controls.
  • Playing her former team, SNHU's Katelyn Hadden led the Penmen with five goals, two assists, and six draw controls.
