EASTON, Mass. (April 6, 2019) – Stonehill scored the first 10 goals of the game on Saturday afternoon and never looked back at W.B. Mason Stadium. Sophomore attack Olivia Pino (5-1-6) and sophomore midfielder Shannon Hughes (5-1-6) finished with six points apiece, as the Skyhawks rolled to a 17-3 victory over the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team in Northeast-10 Conference play at W.B. Stonehill seized control of the game immediately on Saturday afternoon. The Skyhawks scored three times in the opening five minutes and piled up the game's first 10 goals, over the first 20 minutes of the contest. Hughes scored four of her five goals in the game-opening run, and added an assist for good measure, while Pino and junior midfielder Kaity Healey scored twice each. Lounsbury set up junior attack Sarah Heckman (Atkinson, N.H.) with 8:11 remaining in the half to make it 10-1, but Stonehill scored the final three goals of the period to take a 13-1 lead into the intermission.
Stonehill also put home the first four goals of the second half, to push the lead as high as 17-1. Junior attack Bella Lima (Hudson, Mass.) and Lounsbury scored for the Ravens in the final nine minutes to create the 17-3 final.
For Franklin Pierce, Lounsbury (1-1-2), Heckman (1-0-1) and Lima (1-0-1) represented the entirety of the team's point production on Saturday. Freshman midfielder Jenna Cimbron (Bristol, R.I.) snagged four ground balls, while freshman attack Savannah Ernst (American Fork, Utah.) corralled a trio of draw controls. Sophomore midfielder Zoe Totland (Salt Lake City, Utah) caused a pair of turnovers. Ernst was held without a point for just the second time on the season.
As mentioned above, Pino and Hughes led the way for Stonehill with six points apiece, while junior attack Jennifer Wheaton (1-3-4) chipped in four points of her own and Healey and freshman midfielder Kendall Fressle each scored twice. Junior defender Jill McIntire matched Cimbron with four ground balls, and also caused a game-high three turnovers. Sophomore midfielder Emily Sharretts led all players with six draw controls.
Freshman goalkeeper Megan Bacik (Huntington Station, N.Y.) logged a total of 41 minutes in the Franklin Pierce net and suffered the loss (6-4) after finishing with five saves against 14 shots on goal. Junior Casey Butera (West Milford, N.J.) played the final 19 minutes of the first half and made three saves against 11 shots.
