HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The first period saw the Ravens take charge and set up possibly scoring opportunities. The Ravens outshot the Eagles in the first period thirteen to seven. The Ravens had a chance on the powerplay in the period but a penalty of their own shutdown possible scoring chances.
  • The second period saw the Ravens on the penalty kill three times and were able to kill them off, and on the other end, Post was able to kill two Raven powerplays. The offense came to a standstill with both teams battling for the puck in the neutral zone and recording eight shots each.
  • Finally late in the third period, after a rebound chance, Julia Wysocki came up with the puck and with a backhanded shot that went into the air and off a few bodies, snuck its way into the net and helped the Eagles secure their second straight shutout win against the Ravens to send them out of the playoffs.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • The Ravens outshot the Eagles 30-24.
  • Both the Ravens and Eagles went 0-for-4 on powerplay opportunities.
  • Junior Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.) received the loss making 23 saves in net on 24 shots faced.
