HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ravens once again struck first in the opening period. Redshirt first year forward Brynn Levinson (Glencoe, IL) continued her hot streak on the power play, grabbing her 13th goal of the season and giving the Ravens a 1-0 lead.
- The Ravens then added onto that lead on the power play. First year forward Caliegh Murphy (Belle Harbor, NY) lit the lamp for the third time in her collegiate career, giving the Ravens a 2-0 lead. The Pioneers answered quickly however with a goal from their leading scorer Izzy Chaput, cutting the Ravens' lead in half. The Ravens then countered with a beautiful goal from the right circle off the stick of senior captain Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, MN) putting the Ravens back in front by two goals.
- The Pioneers started to claw their way back half way through the third period. Ella Holm tipped the puck past Hertl off a pass from Peyton Bennetts making it 3-2. Then the Ravens sealed the win with a goal by first year forward Hailey Anderson (Greer, SC) winning 4-2.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
- The Ravens dominated on the power play, scoring two power play goals on four opportunities while the Pioneers went 0-5 on the woman-advantage.
- Shot totals were even at 29 a piece, but Jill Hertl made 27 saves to Carly Greene's 25.
- The Ravens won in the faceoff circle too, winning 28 draws to the Pioneers' 26.
