MANCHESTER, N.H. (1/25/25)– The Franklin Pierce women's ice hockey team were seeking revenge against their in-state rival Saint Anselm Saturday afternoon. The Hawks go on a massive run to defeat the Ravens in game two of the series.

Score: Saint Anselm 6, Franklin Pierce 4
Records: Saint Anselm (8-14-4, 8-8-4 NEWHA), Franklin Pierce (11-10-1, 11-8-1 NEWHA)
Location: Manchester, NH, Thomas F. Sullivan Arena
Date: January 25th, 2025

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Ravens held the puck in their offensive zone for a majority of the first 10 minutes. The first power play goes to the Hawks but was squandered due to continuous clears by the Ravens defense. Though, the momentum started to shift after the power play ended and the Hawks were on the attack and Hailey Tullo snipes a shot into the top left corner to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. In the final minute of the first period, the Ravens get even with a goal from Brynn Levinson (Glencoe, Ill.).
  • Less than 30 seconds into the second period, Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) delivers a pass to Sydnee Wilson (Port Moody, B.C.) who scores and puts the Ravens in the lead. Just a few minutes later Bo Dean (Toronto, Ontario) extends the Ravens lead on a power-play off a rebound with a goal to make it 3-1. Though, the Hawks answer quickly with Kismet Dogan hitting a shot and the score goes to 3-2. The Ravens were unable to take advantage of a 5-on-3, which propelled the Hawks to tie it shortly after with Dogan's second goal. Then, the Hawks take advantage of a power play with a goal from Audrey Jackson to take the lead.
  • Deep into the third period the Hawks extend their lead by Ella Ridge scoring her first collegiate goal taking the puck across the ice and scoring herself. After a busy day for the goalies, the Hawks put an end to the game in the final minute with an open-net score by Brenna Young, despite a late goal from Caleigh Murphy (Belle Harbor, N.Y.).

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • The Ravens outshot the Hawks 75-61.
  • Junior goaltender Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.) gets 31 saves in the loss.
  • Both teams took advantage of one power-play.

NEXT UP FOR THE RAVENS: The Ravens start a new series against Stonehill on the road on Friday, January 31st starting at 6 PM.
