 HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The ravens start hot and fast as they create two goals in the first 10 minutes. A shot by Julia Stevens (Minneapolis, Minn.) gets the Ravens started with passes from Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) and Emma LaRoche (Highgate, VT.). Just moments later, that goal was followed by Anna Caumo (Brunico, Italy) with passes from Maggie Korneta (Naperville, Ill.) and McKenzie Rich (Rochester, Minn.) extend the Ravens lead to 2-0. Through the first 10 minutes, there were more goals than stoppages of play.

  • The Purple Knights defense gets settled in for the second period, blanking the Ravens. Franklin Pierce continued to apply pressure having the puck in their offensive zone for a majority of the period. Annika Lavender was having none of it as she tallied 16 saves through the first 2 periods. With 13 total shots, 9 of them were on goal by the Ravens in the second period. Though, the Purple Knights did not score, leaving it 2-0.

  • With 7 minutes of no score in the third period, the Ravens went on a power play. Mikayla Kelley takes advantage by scoring on a pass from Julia Stevens, making it 3-0 with just over 10 minutes left. The Ravens defense holds on and they go on to secure the conference series sweep.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Out of 6 power plays, only one was scored by the Ravens.

  • Senior goaltender Gwen Bowler (Canterbury, N.H.) secured the win and the shutout in net for the Ravens, stopping all 25 shots she faced.
