HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Pioneers struck first as Isabella Chaput scored off a feed from Ally Cohen, putting Sacred Heart up 1-0. The Pioneers struck again a few minutes later on the penalty kill. Kate Helgeson stole the puck and scored on the breakaway to extend the lead to two goals.

  • No one scored in the second period, but both teams had created many opportunities. The Pioneers outshot the Ravens 15-14 in the second period alone.

  • The Pioneers then took complete control of the third period, scoring two more goals. Savannah Popick scored only a minute into the period and Paige McNeill scored a couple minutes after that. The Pioneers hung on to their 4-0 and secured the sweep.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS

  • The Pioneers outshot the Ravens 39-27. They were most dominant in the third period, outshooting the Ravens 16-2 in the final twenty minutes.

  • Both teams struggled on the power play, going 0-3 with the extra skater. However, the one special teams goal came short-handed on a Ravens power play scored by Kate Helgeson unassisted.

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS
