HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Ravens and Pioneers battled defensively in the first period as both teams we held scoreless. Gwenn Bowler (Canterbury, N.H.) got off to a hot start in the first period, saving all 7 shots on goal. The Ravens were aggressive on offense early with 25 shots. Though, only 8 of those shots were on goal, as Lauren Larson saved all of them.

  • 13 minutes into the second period the Pioneers took the lead with a goal from Savanna Antonakis. After the Pioneers shot 27 times in the second period, only one of them landed. Bowler made 15 saves in the second period alone. With their swift time in the offensive zone, the Ravens put 7 shots on goal, continuing to seek one slide through.

  • 6 minutes into the 3rd period, Sydney Antonakis has her second assist as her sister, Alyssa, smacks one into the net. It was a 2-0 game heading through the 3rd with the Ravens having excellent defense. They were able to win 9 faceoffs sparking them for more time with the puck. Mikayla Kelley (Eagan, Minn.) led with winning 10 faceoffs throughout the game. The score was not able to break until the Ravens took advantage of a late power play and narrowed the Pioneers lead to 2-1. Brynn Levinson (Glencoe, Ill.) hits her 7th goal of her career with the late score. With 1 minute remaining, the Ravens empty the net in pursuit of tying the game. Though, the pioneers hit an unassisted goal to seal the deal seconds remaining.
