Women's Ice Hockey's Laroche, Hertl pick up NEWHA Weekly Awards
WINTHROP, Mass. (10/29/24) - Sophomore forward Emma Laroche (Highgate, Vt.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team has been named New England Women's Hockey Alliance Player of the week for the week ending on Oct. 27, as announced on Tuesday. In addition, junior goalie Jill Hertl (Highland Park, Ill.) was selected as Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season.
Laroche was consistent in both games for the Ravens this week, scoring a goal in each game. In Friday's win, Laroche contributed the game-winning goal to defeat Post, 3-2 in NEWHA play. On Saturday, she scored the first foal of the game less than a minute in, giving the Ravens the lead for the start of the game.
Hertl had a stellar performance over the weekend in a split with Post with 38 saves in the 3-2 win on Friday. She posted a .950 save percentage in the win and finished with a .928 on the weekend.
The Ravens return to the ice on Friday, November 1, when they travel to Saint Anselm for the start of the home-and-home weekend with the Hawks. Puck drop is set for 7 PM.
