Marissa Massaro and Suzette Faucher

NEWHA Weekly Release

WINTHROP, Mass. (October 27, 2021) -- For the third straight week, sophomore Suzette Faucher (Middleton, Wis.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team has been named New England Women's Hockey Alliance Goaltender of the Week, this time for the week ending on Oct. 24, as announced on Tuesday afternoon by the NEWHA office. This time around, she was joined on the awards docket by graduate student Marissa Massaro (Brockton, Mass.), who was lauded as NEWHA Player of the Week.

For the second straight week, Faucher refused to allow a goal, as she played the opening 56:22 in the team's only game last week. She stopped all 17 shots she faced in a 7-0 Ravens win at Post on Friday afternoon. Faucher has now stopped 99 of 100 shots she has faced so far on the season, to post a .990 save percentage and a 0.34 goals-against average.

For her part, Massaro scored the game-winning goal on a first-period power play on Friday, and later added a third-period assist as well. She is set to become the sixth 100-point scorer in program history in short order, as the two-point outing moved her to 97 for her career (36-61-97).

The Ravens (2-3-0) open league play this weekend, with a home-and-home series against intrastate rival Saint Anselm, set for Oct. 29-30. The two teams will meet at Saint Anselm at 7 p.m. on Friday, and at Franklin Pierce at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
