WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 15, 2019) – Sophomore forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) and junior defenseman Bridgette Prentiss (Buffalo, N.Y.) each tallied hat tricks on Friday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team rolled to a 13-0 win over Post in New England Women's Hockey Alliance play at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Sophomore forward Haley Parker (Londonderry, N.H.) added five points on two goals and three assists in the penultimate game of the regular season.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 18-9-1 (7-7-1 NEWHA), while Post falls to 6-25-0 (1-14-0 NEWHA). The two teams will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, with a noon faceoff at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

It was all Ravens all the time on Friday, as the 13 goals set a new program record. It was the fifth game of 10 or more goals in program history. In addition, freshman goaltender Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.) set a program record of her own, with her eighth shutout of the season. She was forced to make only four saves while picking up the win (12-5-1), as Franklin Pierce outshot Post 60-4 on the afternoon.

The goals came early and often for the Ravens. Prentiss opened the scoring at 2:07 of the first period, with an unassisted tally, her ninth of the season, as she picked the top shelf from the middle of the right circle. 

Junior defenseman Delaney Guimont (Bedford, N.H.) followed with a finish at the left post at 13:19, for her sixth of the year, off of a setup from Amato and freshman forward Kiki Doucette (Bridgewater, Mass.). Just 39 seconds later, sophomore forward Emily Kramer (Rockville, Md.) put the puck home out front at 13:58, for her second of the season, while junior defenseman Katie Neuburger (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and junior forward Kelsey Holmes (Warwick, R.I.) provided the assists.

Prentiss notched her second goal of the day at 17:10 – her second multiple-goal game of the season – to make it 4-0 before the first intermission. Parker and sophomore defenseman Carolyn Drowne (Bridgewater, Mass.) had the helpers to set up the shot from the right point, which went off the post and in.

Franklin Pierce poured in five goals in the middle stanza to break the game wide open. Sophomore forward Marissa Massaro (Brockton, Mass.) had a power-play tally from the top of the crease at the 35-second mark. Parker had back-to-back goals at 5:24 and 6:55, with the first coming on a rebound chance, and the second coming via a backhand shot from the slot. Junior forward Meg Gilbride (Braintree, Mass.) snapped home a shot from the left circle on a rush at 13:43, while junior forward Alli Sugar (Canton, Conn.) scored from the right circle at 14:51, to make it 9-0 heading into the second intermission. Parker added two assists along the way to make it a four-point frame to cap off her five-point day.

Four more goals in the third created the 13-0 final. Amato made her fourth career hat trick a natural one, with goals at 1:21, 1:32 and 10:50. She picked the top shelf from the slot for the first, put home the second at the left post and banged home a rebound for her third. Prentiss then capped her own hat trick – the first of her collegiate career – at 19:56, with a shot from the top of the right circle, to close out the scoring.

Freshman goaltender Kristin Smith (2-7-0) took the loss in net for Post after logging the opening 25:24 in net and finishing with 19 saves against 25 shots. Junior Jenna Baumgartner took over for the final 34:36 and made 28 saves against 35 shots.
