SHELTON, Conn. (November 18, 2016) – Senior forward Marisa Ketterman (Palmer, Alaska) and senior defenseman Katie Flynn (Sandwich, Mass.) tallied 2-1-3 each, while freshman forward Meg Gilbride (Braintree, Mass.) added 1-3-4 on Friday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team rolled to an 11-0 victory over Post in non-conference play at Sports Center of Connecticut. The Ravens piled up a 78-8 edge in shots on goal, as two Post goaltenders combined for 67 saves, despite the loss.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 6-1-0 and has won six in a row, while Post falls to 0-5-0. The Eagles, who are a first-year program, dressed just nine skaters and played out of a defensive shell in their own end of the ice for much of the afternoon. The two teams will meet again on Saturday, with the opening faceoff scheduled for 1 p.m. at Sports Center of Connecticut.

For Franklin Pierce, the 11-goal win matched the largest margin of victory in program history. The Ravens also won by 11 goals on Oct. 30, 2015, when they posted a 12-1 win at Daniel Webster. It was also the second outing of 10 or more goals in school history, alongside the game at Daniel Webster a year ago.

Franklin Pierce got the only goal it would need on Friday afternoon at the 5:58 mark of the first period. Ketterman took the original shot on the play, from the right side. Post freshman goaltender Mikaella Doran made the save, but the rebound came to the bottom of the left-wing circle for Flynn. Flynn quickly put the puck back on net and in, for her first goal of the season, while freshman defenseman Delaney Guimont (Bedford, N.H.) added an assist on the play as well.

The Ravens then struck twice in the final minute of the opening stanza to take a 3-0 lead into the intermission. First, at 19:27, senior forward Michelle Holmes (Goffstown, N.H.) rifled home a one-timer from the right circle for her fifth goal of the campaign. Guimont provided the feed from the point, while junior forward Alex Brolsma (Bloomington, Minn.) also added an assist. Later, at the 19:59 mark, with less than a second to play in the period, Gilbride finished off the rebound of her own shot from the right circle to tally her second goal of the season. Senior forward Lanie Matsumoto (Fort Collins, Colo.) and freshman defenseman Bridgette Prentiss (Buffalo, N.Y.) provided the assists.

Franklin Pierce tacked on three more goals in the middle period to take a 6-0 lead through 40 minutes. The three goals came one after the other, in a span of just 1:57 early in the frame. At the 4:40 mark, Brolsma chased down a dump-in in the right-wing corner, walked out front through the right circle and scored her sixth goal of the season, with Holmes picking up the lone assist. At the 5:28 mark, freshman forward Kayla Trujillo (Pueblo, Colo.) was the last to get her stick to the puck, as the Ravens got the puck to the net through the slot. Freshman defenseman Katie Neuburger (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and Gilbride had the helpers on Trujillo's fourth of the season. Then, at the 6:37 mark, Guimont took a feed from freshman forward Kelsey Holmes (Warwick, R.I.) on the right side and blasted her first collegiate goal through traffic from the middle of the blue line.

With the contest already all but decided, the Ravens poured in five more goals in the third period to run up the 11-0 final. Ketterman got her first of two in the period at the 13:18 mark, as she one-timed home a centering feed from freshman forward Ariana Soldano (Hanover, Mass.) in the right-wing corner, while Trujillo added an assist as well. At the 14:32 mark, Kelsey Holmes threw the puck out front from the right side and wound up with her first career goal, as the puck deflected in off of Post, while Gilbride and freshman defenseman Lauren White (Westwood, Mass.) added assists. Ketterman tallied again at the 17:35 mark, as she finished a rebound off the backboards from in front of the left post, with assists going to Flynn and junior defenseman Erin Pengeroth (Acton, Mass.).

For her part, Flynn would complete her two-goal, three-point outing at the 18:22 mark, as she put a shot from the left point through traffic, which popped up in the air, went over the goaltender and landed in the net. Pengeroth and Gilbride added assists on Flynn's second goal of the day. Lastly, at the 19:50 mark, Matsumoto capped the scoring with her fourth goal of the campaign by putting a shot between the pads of the goaltender from the left circle, while White and senior forward Nina Danforth (Stratford, Conn.) collected assists.

Under siege all day, a pair of Post goaltenders put together some impressive numbers, despite allowing 11 goals between them. Doran (0-1-0) started, logged the first 26:37 in the crease and piled up 33 saves against 39 shots on goal. After the sixth Franklin Pierce goal, early in the second, Doran was relieved by fellow freshman Jenna Baumgartner. Baumgartner tended net for the final 33:23 and collected 34 saves against 39 shots, as the Post duo combined for 67 saves against 78 shots.

Meanwhile, it was a much lighter workload for a pair of Franklin Pierce netminders. Senior Shannon O'Neil (Tewksbury, Mass.) stopped all three shots she faced over the opening 26:37 to pick up the win (6-1-0) for the Ravens. O'Neil also departed after the sixth Franklin Pierce goal, with junior Madison Murray (Berkley, Mich.) taking over for the final 33:23 and making five saves to complete the shutout.
