Women’s Golf 13th After First Day of UIndy Invitational
CARMEL, Ind. (September 12, 2022) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team was in the Hoosier State on Monday, to open the season with the first of two days at the UIndy Invitational, at the 6204-yard, par-72 Prairie View Golf Club. Through two rounds of the three-round tournament, the Ravens are 13th in a 17-team field, after rounds of 319 (+31) and 316 (+28), for an opening-day total of 635 (+59). Sophomore Kesinee Prukmathakul (Bangkok, Thailand) led the way for Franklin Pierce and is tied-12th, out of 92 individuals, at 148 (+4), after back-to-back rounds of two-over 74.
On the team front, the Ravens were 13th after the opening-round 319, and stayed right there with a 316 in the second round of the day. At the top of the field, Dallas Baptist leads the way with one round to go, at 289-286--575 (-1). The Patriots are seven shots clear of host Indianapolis in second at 298-284--582 (+6), while Findlay is third at 285-298--583 (+7).
Franklin Pierce had five golfers in action on Monday, with Prukmathakul the only one to crack the top 50, though fellow sophomore Phisonlaya Ruayruen (Chiangmai, Thailand) is tied-59th at 81-78--159 (+15). Farther back, seniors Alia Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Micaela Leandro (Harlingen, Texas) are part of a three-way tie for 79th at 166 (+22), while freshman Lorelai Flanagan (Arlington, Mass.) is solo-88th in her collegiate debut, at 90-82--172 (+28).
Individually, Dallas Baptist sophomore Jordan Karrh has built a four-shot lead at 69-67--136 (-8), to lead seven golfers who finished the day under par. Lee senior Supuschaya Srichantamit sits second at 70-70--140 (-4), while Grand Valley State sophomore Olivia Stoll is third at 70-71--141 (-3).
The UIndy Invitational will wrap up with the third and final round on Tuesday at Prairie View.
