VERONA, N.Y (October 13, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team are 18 holes away from bringing their second Northeast-10 Conference Championship trophy back to Rindge after they shot a 306 (+18) opening round at the Shenendoah Golf Course at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, N.Y.

Pierce holds a commanding 19 stroke lead over second place opponent Assumption College (325, +37). Host Le Moyne College rounds out the top-three at 330 (+42).

Raven freshman Jinnapat Rittawee (Kanchanaburi, Thailand) is one stroke in front of Bianca Cruz-Hernandez of Le Moyne shooting a first round 72 (E). Rittawee had four birdies on the afternoon and was two under par on the back nine.

Teammates Christine Songcuan (Lancaster, Calif.), Alia Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Taylor Hartley (Canton, Ga.) all produced 78 (+6) showings as they are all tied for third place. Godek knocked off two strokes on the back nine and Hartley was even through the front nine.

Senior Zoey Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) struggled during the opening nine holes manufacturing four double bogeys. However, she picked up the pace at the turn with two birdies to be only two over on the back nine holes. Yamamoto fired an 82 (+10) and is deadlocked into 10th place with four other athletes.

The crimson and grey hit the links tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. for a shotgun start.
