GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (September 8, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team had an impressive start to the Saint Rose Fall Invitational as the Ravens finished the first round atop the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon. The two-day tournament is being contested at the par-72, 5706-yard Western Turnpike Golf Club.

The Ravens were led by freshman Jinnapat Rittawee (Kanchanaburi, Thailand), who is tied for the lead with a +6 (78) on her card. Among those one shot back is senior Zoey Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii), who finished day one +7 (79), which was good enough to tie for third. Rittawee shares the overnight lead with Paulette Romero of American International.

With a total of 324 strokes (+36) the Franklin Pierce golfers hold a lead of eight strokes over second-place Southern New Hampshire University going into the second round. Then Penmen put together a first-round total of 332 (+44).

The second round will take place on Monday in upstate New York, where the Ravens will look to keep their lead and earn their first team win of the year, while Rittawee will look to compete for her first collegiate victory.
