Trio of Ravens Lead Women’s Golf to First Place After One Round
NASHUA, N.H. (October 1, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team stands alone atop the team leaderboard following the first round of play at the Granite State Invitational hosted by fellow Northeast-10 Conference program Merrimack College Monday afternoon.
The Ravens hold a five-stroke lead (315, +31) over the host Warriors (320, +36) who currently rank second. Southern New Hampshire University rounds out the top-three totaling 326 (+42).
Individually, the Ravens have a trio of golfers who are within the top-five. Team captain Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) is deadlocked with Krystal Knight of Merrimack in third place at 77 (+6). Yamamoto trails Bianca Cruz-Hernandez of Le Moyne College and Morgan Mitchell of SNHU by one stroke for medalist honors.
Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) and freshman Christine Songcuan (Lancaster, Calif.) are tied for fifth place with two other golfers as they fired a 78 (+7) round. Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) and Rosa Jones (Mastic, N.Y.) turned in 82 (+11) and 84 (+13) scorecards respectively to round out the Raven showings
The Ravens look to remain ahead of the pack tomorrow during the final round of competition.
