Saint Michael’s Stifles Franklin Pierce in 67-45 Defeat

RINDGE, N.H. (2/8/25) - The Franklin Pierce women's basketball team fell to Saint Michael's, 67-45, on Saturday at The Fieldhouse. Despite an early lead, the Ravens struggled to maintain momentum as the Purple Knights used a dominant second half to pull away for the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Sara Macary (Naugatuck, Conn.) gave Franklin Pierce the 14-8 lead at 3:08 of the opening quarter, the first of two six-point leads in the period, but the Purple Knights later used a 16-5 run to lead 26-21. 
  • That proved to be the largest lead by either team in the quarter, and graduate student Janessa Gonzalez (Meriden, Conn.) hit a juper with 1:24 left to sen the team into the half at 28. 
  • Saint Michael's Bella Franchi gave them the lead for good seconds into the third quater. 
  • Colette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) hit a jumper at 8:17 of the fourth to bring the Ravens within 49-40, but Ruby Santos' sparked an 8-0 run for Saint Michael's. 

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Colette Mulderig led the Ravens with 14 points and 12 rebounds, notching another double-double.
  • The Ravens shot 32.7% from the field, while the Purple Knights shot 41.4%.
  • The Ravens shot 21.1% from the arc and the Purple Knights 32.1%. 
  • The Purple Knights had 42 rebounds to the Ravens' 31.
