Mulderig and Gonzalez Lead Ravens to Thrilling One-Point Victory Over Southern Connecticut

RINDGE, N.H. (1/18/25) – In a nail-biting finish, the Franklin Pierce University women's basketball team secured a 57-56 victory over Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse. A clutch free throw by Janessa Gonzalez (Meridan, Conn.) with just one second remaining sealed the win for the Ravens.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Colette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) got the Ravens on the board with a three-pointer after the Owls opened the game with two unanswered baskets.
  • Janessa Gonzalez (Meridan, Conn.) put the Ravens ahead for the first time with a three-pointer, assisted by Paige Slaven (Long Beach Island, N.J.), and followed it up with another to extend the lead to 9-6.
  • Liv Murray (Salem, N.H.) added a three-pointer, and Geanna Bryant (Boston, Mass.) contributed to the scoring to give the Ravens a nine-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
  • Mulderig scored early in the second quarter and added another jumper late in the half, assisted by Demi Albon (Craigieburn, Australia), keeping the Ravens ahead 27-22 at halftime.
  • The third quarter saw back-and-forth scoring, with the Owls briefly taking the lead before Sara Macary (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Albon's three-pointer helped the Ravens regain momentum.
  • In a tightly contested fourth quarter, Gonzalez hit a crucial three-pointer to tie the game at 49, and after exchanging baskets, she was fouled with one second left, sinking a free throw to secure the 57-56 victory for the Ravens.

  • Colette Mulderig earned a double-double and led the team with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
