HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The game started hot with an opening possession layup made by Adriana DeBernardo (Stratford, Conn.) only to be answered by an Elise MacNair layup to tie in on the following possession. The following two possessions were matched with layups made by Ravens' Collette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) and Hawks' Melanie Hoyt. Through a back-and-forth first quarter, the Ravens end up having up to an 8-point lead after Leana Heitmann gets sent to the free-throw line and makes both. The Hawks narrow the lead down to 24-19 as the 1st quarter ends.

  • The Hawks would take the lead in the second quarter as Elise MacNair would hit a layup. From there, they would go on a 5-point run, starting a complete change of pace. Janessa Gonzalez (Meriden, Conn.) attempted to shorten the lead at the end of the first half with a state-of-the-art layup drawing a foul to make it a 3-point play.

  • The second half would continue to be in favor of the Hawks as they dominated the scoresheet for most of the third quarter. Paige Slaven (Long Beach Island, N.J.) would continue her strong defensive showing with a turnover and rebound, that leads to a Mulderig tip-in. Mulderig's basket would bring the score to within 5, but the Hawks would continue to lengthen the spread by taking advantage of open 3-pointers.

  • Geanna Bryant (Boston, Mass.) would try to start the comeback for the Ravens as she steals the ball and converts on a layup shortly into the fourth quarter. However, the Hawks would not look back and secure the NE10 conference win with a final score of 66-57.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • Colette Mulderig led the Ravens with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

  • The Ravens had 28 rebounds.
