HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Franklin Pierce gets off to a slow start in the first quarter, with Assumption springing to an early lead. The Ravens rallied back in the second quarter by scoring 15 points opposed to Assumptions 6. At the half, Assumption nearly led the Ravens in every category, but dominating the rebounds kept the Ravens in the game. Key contributors for Assumption, including Kaijhe Hall, kept the Greyhounds at a steady pace while the Ravens were mounting a comeback. With efforts from Franklin Pierce players like Sara Macary (Naugatuck, Conn.), the Ravens had a 20-19 lead at halftime.
-
In the second half, Franklin Pierce still fought on offense as the Greyhounds continued to have an answer. Notable performances off the bench for the Ravens, including Saga Tallroth (Stockholm, Sweden) having 10 points, had the game going back and forth. Rebounds from Colette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) and Paige Slaven (Long Beach Island, N.J.) contributed in crucial moments defensively. However, Assumption continued to bounce back, with standout plays from Hall and Molly Stokes, whose late points came clutch in overtime. Franklin Pierce had a two-possession lead with under 30 seconds to go in overtime, but a late foul sent Maeve Moriarty to the line, and she hit both. A late three-pointer by Molly Stokes ties the game and a crucial foul by the Ravens causes Kaijhe Hall to be the hero, hitting one free throw with one second left.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
