HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The first quarter of Wednesday's matchup proved to be an important one for the Ravens who returned to Rindge with the 14 point victory. Franklin Pierce came out firing and boasted a 10 – 0 lead in the first three and half minutes. In the first quarter, four of the team's starting five grabbed four points each. Under the net, Sophomore guard #11 Kenzie Sirowich (Seymour, Conn.) grabbed 6 rebounds and senior guard #22 Anna Badosa Soler (Girona, Spain) picked up five. Closing out the first quarter, the Ravens held a 19-7 lead.
  • Following the first quarter, Adelphi's offensive unit came back to life and tallied 12 points but the Ravens kept the foot on the gas and closed out the first half with a 32-19 lead.
  • In the third, senior forward #44 Colette Mulderig (Scranton, Pa.) had the best quarter of her career after she went 4-5 from the field including two three-pointers and two made free-throws for a total of 12 points. Mulderig's performance lifted the Ravens to a 52-38 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
  • After the Ravens outscored the Panthers by 12 points in the first quarter, Adelphi was able to keep it within one point for the second and third quarters and then each team grabbed 16 points in the fourth. Though Adelphi was able to make it a more competitive game as time went on, it wasn't enough to climb out of the first quarter deficit.

BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS:

  • The two deciding factors in Wednesday night's game were that the Ravens outshot and outrebounded the Panthers. Pierce shot 48% from the field compared to Adelphi's 34%. From the three-point arc, the Ravens hit 42% compared to the Panthers' 31%. The charity strip earned its name in the matchup too where Pierce hit 79% of their free throws compared to Adelphi's 33%.
  • When it came to grabbing boards, the Ravens tallied 40 rebounds, just four more than their opponent.

NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: Franklin Pierce women's basketball continues their two game road trip on Saturday, January 13 as the team will head to Bentley to square off against the Falcons at 1:30 PM.
