RINDGE, N.H. (January 25, 2020) – The Franklin Pierce University women's basketball team hung around but ultimately could not overcome a dominant shooting performance by no. 20 nationally-ranked Adelphi University on Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse. The Panthers poured in 13 three-pointers en route to a 70-47 victory. The loss dropped the Ravens to 8-10 and 2-9 NE10 while the guests improve to 18-2, 9-2 NE10.

Sophomore forward Izzy Lipinski (Farmington, Conn.) scored 11 points to lead the crimson and grey. She also grabbed six rebounds, swiped three steals and dished out a pair of assists. Junior team captain Sophia Holmes (Oakland, Maine) added 10 points and five rebounds but only connected on 25% of her shots including just one of her seven three-point attempts. Lisa Sulejmani (Burlington, Vt.) packed the box score with seven points, a team-best seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block.

Julia Strachan paced a trio of Panthers in double-figures with a game-high 15 points off the bench. Leonie Edringer was a force in the paint notching 11 points, grabbing nine rebounds and swatting away three shots while Katie Murphy stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, nine boards, six dimes, and three steals.

It was a defensive battle with the Ravens shooting just 31.1% from the field while Adelphi shot just 37.3% while converting on 13 of their 38 attempts from long range. The visitors also won the turnover battle pilling up 24 takeaways including 11 thefts while Franklin Pierce forced 15 turnovers with eight steals.

The Panthers would score first as Jess Camarda connected on a three-pointer on the fast break. Lipinski got the Ravens on the board with a layup on their next possession. After Adelphi scored again to go ahead 5-2, the crimson and grey proceeded to score the next seven consecutive points to take a 9-5 advantage. However, the Panthers proceeded to notch 10 consecutive points in the span of fewer than two minutes. A layup by Emma Cuccurullo pushed Adelphi in front and they would never trail again. Camarda scored six points in the first frame to lead the guests while the Ravens got scoring contributions from seven different players though no one scored more than two points in the quarter as Adelphi lead 15-12.

It was a back-and-forth second quarter. Sulejmani was tremendous for the crimson and grey scoring three points, grabbing three rebounds, snagging three steals and dishing out a highlight reel assist while Lipinski scored five points. However, Edringer and Emily Miccile scored five each for the Panthers to maintain the lead and hold a 34-28 advantage at the break.

Holmes would get the Ravens to within three at 36-33 early in the third quarter after corralling her own miss and converting a layup followed by a three-ball. However, then Strachan got going for the Panthers pouring in 12 points as a part of a 15-4 stretch to pull away as the visitors advantage swelled to 51-37 after three-quarters of play.

Adelphi finally got going shooting the ball in the fourth going 46.2% in the quarter to run away with the victory.

Franklin Pierce struggled with the Panthers pace throughout the game as the guests outscored the Ravens 21-to-8 on the fast break. Adelphi also got great contributions from their second unit as their bench scored 24 in the w.

Franklin Pierce wrapped up their three-game home swing with a 2-1 mark and will head out on the road to get back on track when they travel to New York to battle Pace University, Wednesday, January 29th at 5:30 p.m.
