RINDGE, N.H. (December 14, 2019) – Franklin Pierce University women's basketball sophomore forward Emma Carter (Bristol, Vt.) manufactured the first double-double of her collegiate career with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds as the crimson and grey smoked Cheyney University 98-42 Saturday afternoon in The Fieldhouse. With the win, the Ravens stop a four-game skid and move to 4-5 overall while the Lady Wolves drop to 1-8 with the setback.

Carter started and played in only 18 minutes for Pierce as every active player received ample playing time. She did the majority of her damage in the third quarter tallying six points to her second double-digit point total of the campaign. Her 10 boards were easily a career-best with three of them coming on the offensive end.

Two other Ravens joined Carter in double-figures. Junior team captain Sophia Holmes (Oakland, Maine) poured in a game-high 17 points as she buried 5-of-8 (62.5%) triples. All 17 of Holmes' points came in the first stanza. Sophomore Izzy Lipinski (Farmington, Conn.) stuffed the stat sheet with 15 markers on 7-of-8 (87.5%) shooting, seven caroms, a game and personal-high matching six dimes and two blocks.

In limited minutes off the pine, junior forward Freya Cooney (Woodbridge, England) totaled eight points, five rebounds – three offensive, two steals, and an assist while Claudia Tucci (Trumbull, Conn.) tacked on six points and five boards in 16 minutes.

The high scorer for the Lady Wolves was Khadijah Pearson who produced a team-best 10 points to go with a team-best three rebounds.

Franklin Pierce was the far superior program connecting on a season-best 61.7% (37-of-60) of their field-goal attempts and seven three-balls which was also a yearly high watermark. They outrebounded their counterparts 50-to-19 and dominated in the painted area (52-to-20) and off turnovers (30-to-13).

Pierce's 98 team points were their highest total during a since game since they dumped in 90 points during a 90-77 victory against the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) back on January 5, 2014.

FPU kick-started the game on a 23-2 scoring spurt connecting on 17 straight points during the run as team captain Hannah Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) fed Cooney for the fast break deuce. A Cheyney junior guard Jamyra Maye layup and three-pointer brought the margin down to 23-7 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, FPU's 16 point edge turned into a high of 39, 57-18 when Lipinski capped off the successful 34-11 quarter by spinning off her defender and powering in a layup off the glass in the restricted area with 50 seconds to go.

Another huge showing for Pierce in the third period, a 25-10 margin increased the lead to 54 when freshman Tamisha Myers (Stafford, Conn.) scored a layup with 30 ticks remaining on the clock. Classmate Sammi Gallant (Ipswich, Mass.) gave the Ravens their biggest lead at 63, 96-33 with 4:47 left as she cashed in the steal to fast break uncontested lay-in.

The Ravens hit the road for their final duel of the 2019 calendar year when they take on Nyack College (3-4, 1-1 CACC) on Wednesday, December 18th at 5:30 p.m.
