EASTON, Mass. (December 4, 2019) – Sophomore forward Izzy Lipinski (Farmington, Conn.) set a new career-high with 27 points but it was not enough as the Franklin Pierce University women's basketball team lost to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Stonehill College 68-59 at the Merkert Gymnasium on Wednesday night. With the win, the Skyhawks improve 6-2, 3-1 in NE10 while the Ravens fall to 3-4 and remain winless in three chances against league foes.

Lipinski finished with her first double-double of the season grabbing 12 rebounds to go with her 27 points shooting 12-for-18 (66.7%) from the field while also recording two steals and a block. The double-double was the seventh in her collegiate career.

Sophomore forward Emma Carter (Bristol, Vt.) and team captain Sophia Holmes (Oakland, Maine) also recorded double-digit points with 11 apiece. For Carter, it was her third consecutive game scoring double-figures while she led the Ravens with four assists and a trio of three-pointers made. Holmes added six boards and scored double-figures for the sixth game in a row.

The Skyhawks, who ranked no. 22 in the nation last week, were led by Emily Bramanti's 16 points off the bench shooting 58% from the field and 40% from long range. Gabrielle Reuter added 10 points to go along with five assists and five boards.

Pierce shot the highest percentage in the battle 44.6%-to-40.9% and outrebounded their opponent 39-to-35, but Stonehill was more careful with the rock amassing only 12 turnovers while scoring 21 points off the 22 Raven miscues.

The Ravens would strike first in this game and held a 4-0 lead off layups by Holmes and Lipinski before Stonehill went on a 6-0 run to take the lead at 6-4. Pierce responded with a 13-2 run to jump ahead 17-8 and would finish the quarter holding a 24-19 advantage.

The teams traded baskets for the opening six and a half minutes of the second quarter when the Ravens held a 32-29 lead before Jesse Semeniak made a layup and then connected on a pair of free throws to give the Skyhawks a 33-32 lead. The crimson and grey finished the quarter scoring five of the final seven points to take a 37-35 lead into the half. The Ravens shot 46.9% from the field in the first half while Stonehill shot just 37.8% but they could not generate much separation as they committed 11 turnovers against just three for the Skyhawks.

The Ravens went to Lipinski early in the third quarter as she outscored the Skyhawks six to five over the five minutes of action to move ahead 43-40. Franklin Pierce went on an 8-0 run to extend their lead to a game-high 11 points at 51-40. Stonehill closed the gap with a 7-0 run to end the quarter but the Ravens still were in the driver's seat 51-47 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter would begin with the Skyhawks going on a 12-0 run to take a 59-51 advantage, the Ravens finally scored their first basket of the quarter when Lipinski connected on a jump shot more than halfway through the quarter after a layup by Semeniak. The Ravens got within one possession using five consecutive points to make it 61-58, however, Grace Carter responded with a three that sparked a 7-1 run to close the door and give the Skyhawks the victory.

The Ravens will look to get their first conference win of the season when they host conference opponent Bentley University (6-3, 2-0 NE10) on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
