League-High Nine Ravens Earn Spots on NE10 Academic All-Conference Teams

MANSFIELD, Mass. (April 15, 2020) – Franklin Pierce University has had nine student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the fall season, as announced on Wednesday by the Conference office. Sophomore forward Ryan Gorbett (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) and senior forward James Morrissey (West Haven, Conn.) of the men’s ice hockey team; sophomore forward Izzy Lipinski (Farmington, Conn.) of the women’s basketball team; junior Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France), sophomore Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.), senior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) and junior Antonio Rua (Burrillville, R.I.) of the men’s track & field team; and sophomore Paola Brena (Queretaro, Mexico) and junior Marisa Carbone (Scarborough, Maine) of the women’s track & field team were all honored by the league. The selected Ravens were among 77 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the NE10. The nine selections for Franklin Pierce were the most of any NE10 institution.
BACK IN THE SADDLE: Swasey Finds Success in First Year Back in Rindge

For new head coach Mark Swasey of the women’s basketball team, this season is not a welcome to Franklin Pierce; it is a welcome back. After an opening for the head coaching position became available, Swasey knew this was an opportunity he could not pass up. The ability to coach again, at a school he enjoys, made it easy to take the job.
Women’s Basketball’s Lipinski Selected to All-Conference Second Team

Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball sophomore forward Izzy Lipinski (Farmington, Conn.) has been chosen to the Northeast-10 Conference Second Team the league offices announced after a collection of votes by the leagues’ coaches were tallied. It marks the first time since the 2015-16 campaign (Kara Charette, First Team and Natalie Bastian, Honorable Mention) that a Raven women’s basketball player has received All-Conference Honors.
Ravens Conclude Campaign With Two Point Win at Assumption

Three Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball players scored in double-figures including Lisa Sulejmani (Burlington, Vt.) who recorded a team-best 19 points and classmate Emma Carter (Bristol, Vt.) with her second career double-double, 10 points and 10 rebounds as the crimson and grey pulled out a two-point, 59-57 win on the road at Northeast-10 Conference opponent Assumption College Tuesday evening at the Laska Gymnasium. With the win, the Ravens season ends at 11-15, 5-14 NE10 while the Hounds drop to 13-14, 7-12 NE10.

Fresh off a career performance, Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball sophomore forward Izzy Lipinski (Farmington, Conn.) tallied her ninth double-double of the campaign with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds – six offensive as the Ravens were undone by Northeast-10 Conference opponent Bentley University 75-52 Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.

Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball sophomore guard Lisa Sulejmani (Burlington, Vt.) scored a career and game-high 22 points as the Ravens never trailed in a 69-59 win over Northeast-10 Conference opponent and no. 6 D2SIDA East Regionally-Ranked Pace University Wednesday night at the Goldstein Fitness Center. With the win, the Ravens move to 9-10 overall and 3-9 NE10. The three conference victories are their most since the 2015-16 campaign. The setback sends the Setters to 15-6, 8-4 NE10.

The Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team hung around but ultimately could not overcome a dominant shooting performance by no. 20 nationally-ranked Adelphi University on Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse. The Panthers poured in 13 three-pointers en route to a 70-47 victory. The loss dropped the Ravens to 8-10 and 2-9 NE10 while the guests improve to 18-2, 9-2 NE10.

Four different players scored double digits for the Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team as they recorded their second consecutive Northeast-10 Conference victory outlasting Southern Connecticut State University 79-56 at the Fieldhouse on Wednesday night. Sophomore guard Lisa Sulejmani (Burlington, Vt.) finished with her second career double-double while classmate Izzy Lipinski (Farmington, Conn.) recorded her 11th career double-double and fifth of the season in the winning effort. With the win, the Ravens improve to 8-9 on the season including 2-8 in conference play while the Owls swoop to 8-10, 2-8 NE10.

The Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team wrapped up their three-game road trip with an 83-52 setback to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Le Moyne College Tuesday night on Ted Grant Court. With the win, the Dolphins improve to 9-6, 5-3 NE10 while Pierce drops to 6-9 and remain winless in the conference.
