RINDGE, N.H. (February 14, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University women's basketball sophomore guard Mya Mosley (Worcester, Mass.) poured in a game-high 15 points during a 64-42 setback to Northeast-10 Conference foe Assumption College on Athletes Backing Athletes (ABA) Night in The Fieldhouse Wednesday evening. With the victory, the Greyhounds race to 9-15 overall and 6-13 NE10 while the Ravens fell in their 18th conference showdown.

Mosley was 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the free throw line while she snagged three boards, handed out two assists, poked away the rock three times and stuffed two shot attempts. Fellow guard, freshman Sophia Holmes (Oakland, Maine) dropped 10 points on 4-of-8 (50.0%) shooting. Five-foot, four-inch freshman guard Demi Akins (Cambridge, Mass.) was a monster on the boards as she came down with a game and career-high 10 caroms with three coming on the offensive end.

Four players recorded double-digit points for Assumption as senior guard Teneya McLaughlin led the way with 15 markers on a 7-of-11 (63.6%) shooting performance. Junior forward Morgan O'Donnell was productive in only 21 minutes producing 13 points, five boards, one helper and one block.

Franklin Pierce trailed by only two, 29-27 at the intermission after drilling home 10-of-20 (50.0%) of their field goal attempts. However, the second half was a different story for the Crimson and Grey as they went ice-cold making only 3-of-24 (12.5%) from the hardwood while being outscored 35-to-15 by the guests.

The Ravens notched the opening bucket of the contest when Akins collected a Mosley feed and drilled home a catch and shoot trey from the left wing. The Ravens edge increased to a game-high eight points, 13-5 when Holmes knocked home a trifecta following a driving kick out dish from Jemma Thacker (Nairne, South Australia). An Abby McKanna three-pointer and a Meghan Cramb foul line connection cut the deficit to four, 13-9, but Mosley closed out the quarter with a driving two to reestablish a two-possession lead for FPU at 15-9.

Morgan O'Brien drained a mid-range jumper in transition following a steal to make it a two-point game. Assumption took their first lead in the showdown when good perimeter ball movement led to a McLaughlin wide-open three-pointer as the Greyhounds pounced ahead 19-18. Holmes buried back-to-back jumpers to push the Ravens back in front by three, 21-18 with 4:17 left until halftime. Assumption tallied 11 points over the remainder of the stanza before Mosley hit a jumper with 21 seconds to go as the Ravens trailed by two, 29-27 at the halfway point.

Two of the Ravens three second-half field goal conversions came in the first 1:30 of the third quarter. Freshman forward Claudia Tucci (Trumbull, Conn.) gave the Ravens a two-point edge when she sank a right elbow mid-range J via a Mosley assist. A 12-0 run by the guests moved them ahead by 10, 41-31 after a Cramb second-chance lay-in. Two Thacker freebies snapped the binge and dropped the deficit back to single figures, but Assumption held the Ravens scoreless over the next 9:32 of the contest to win by double-figures.

The Ravens conclude their road slate of games on Saturday when they travel to NE10 opponent Southern New Hampshire University for a 1:30 p.m. contest that can be seen on Fox College Sports. You can also tune into the radio for the play-by-play at WGIR 610-AM.
