Women's Basketball's Brooke Coderre & Men's Track & Field's Max Fanwick Named to 2014 NE-10 Winter All-Academic Teams

Second academic honor for both student-athletes this season

RINDGE, N.H. (March 27, 2014) – A pair of Franklin Pierce University student-athletes were honored on Thursday by being named to the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Winter Sports All-Academic Team in their respective sport. The duo included women’s basketball senior guard Brooke Coderre (Woonsocket, R.I.) and men’s indoor track & field sophomore athlete Max Fanwick (Wilton, Conn.).

To be eligible for selection to the Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and been either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution.

Coderre had an impressive senior season for the women’s basketball squad, as she started all 28 games while averaging 10.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. She led the NE-10 in three-point percentage at 51.9 percent, ranked second in free throw percentage (88.6%), and ranked fifth with 29 blocks.

Her work in the classroom is just as impressive as her efforts on the court, as Thursday’s honor marked the second prestigious academic award won by Coderre this season. In January, she was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District I First-Team. Coderre is a sports and recreation management major, and boasts a 3.93 cumulative grade point average.

Fanwick proved to be one of the top performers for the men’s indoor track & field team during the winter months, as he tied for fourth place in the pole vault with a mark of 12 feet, 7 ½ inches at the 2014 conference indoor championship back in February. He also earned All-East Region honors in the event from the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Fanwick, who owns a 3.59 GPA in his major of political science, was recognized by the NE-10 for his academic work earlier this season, as he was named to the league’s Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll back in the fall.
