First 150 FPU Students w/ School ID Admitted FREE to Friday's Game

RINDGE, N.H. (February 27, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team will open post-season play on Friday night when the Ravens play host to Southern Connecticut State at 7 p.m. in The Fieldhouse in Rindge in the first round of the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

Tickets for the game are $8 for adults, $5 for children and seniors, and $1 for college students with a valid NE-10 ID. The first 150 Franklin Pierce students that present their school ID at the front door will have the cost of their ticket covered, courtesy of Franklin Pierce Athletics.

The Ravens are the fourth seed in the Northeast Division of the league standings, while Southern Connecticut is the fifth seed in the Southwest Division. The teams are meeting for the second time this year with Franklin Pierce earning a 76-68 triumph over the Owls back on Jan. 25 in Rindge. Junior forward Jessica Hurd (Kegworth, England) had a team-high 17 points to pace the Ravens to victory.

Franklin Pierce concluded the regular season with a 15-11 overall record and a 12-9 mark in the Northeast-10 Conference. Southern Connecticut finished with a 12-14 regular season record, and an 8-12 mark in league play.

The winner of Friday’s first round game will advance to the NE-10 quarterfinals on Sunday, as they will travel to take on the No. 1 seed in the Southwest Division, Adelphi. Tip for that game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
