Women's Basketball Falls to #1 Bentley 100-57 in Regular Season Finale

WALTHAM, Mass. (February 25, 2014) – Courtney Finn scored 22 points, and No. 1 Bentley scored the game’s first 14 en route to a 100-57 win over the Franklin Pierce University women’s basketball team on Tuesday night at the Dana Center in Waltham, Mass.

The Falcons capped their regular season with a perfect 26-0 overall record and a 21-0 mark in the Northeast-10, while the Ravens concluded their regular season with a 15-11 mark and a 12-9 record in league play.

Franklin Pierce now advances to action Friday night when the Ravens play host to Southern Connecticut State in the first round of the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The game will tip at 7 p.m. in The Fieldhouse in Rindge.

Bentley shot 55 percent from the field, and were even more lethal from three-point range going at a 78-percent clip (7-of-9). Joining Finn in double-figures were Lauren Battista with 18 points, Jen Gemma with 16, and Christiana Bakolas with 10.

Sophomore forward Kara Charette (Fairhaven, Mass.) paced Franklin Pierce with 20 points, while senior guard Brooke Coderre (Woonsocket, R.I.) followed with 11 points. The Ravens were 41 percent from the field, and only 20 percent from three-point range (2-of-10).

After opening the game on a 14-0 run, the Falcons eventually went up 25-2 eight minutes in.

The Ravens tried to claw back, and got give points from Coderre on a three and a jumper to pull within 32-17. However, Bentley countered with six-consecutive points to go up by 21, and eventually built a 50-29 lead at halftime. Charette and Finn each had 13 points in the opening 20 minutes.

Bentley continued to add to its margin in the second half in not looking back for the win.
