MANCHESTER, N.H. (November 30, 2010) – Senior center Jewel White (Worcester, Mass.) led all players with both 25 points and 17 rebounds on Wednesday evening to post her third straight double-double and lead the No. 13 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women's basketball team to a 63-51 win at Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at SNHU Fieldhouse. Junior forward Sloane Sorrell posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead SNHU.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 4-0 (4-0 Northeast-10), while Southern New Hampshire falls to 5-1 (3-1 Northeast-10).

Leading 12-9 with 11:58 to play in the opening half, a layup by senior forward Marielle Giroud (Martigny, Switzerland) ignited a 13-2 run over the next six minutes to open up a 14-point lead for the Ravens at 25-11. Over the remainder of the evening, SNHU would close the gap to single digits on just two occasions as the Ravens went on to the 12-point victory.

Giroud collected the first seven points of the game-breaking run, as she drained a three-pointer and put home another layup following a missed jump shot and a turnover by SNHU, respectively. After a layup from SNHU senior guard Christine Duffy, junior forward Amanda Saab (Windham, N.H.) hit a layup and White followed with a layup and a pair of free throws to push the Franklin Pierce lead to double digits for the first time.

On the evening, White was dominant on the glass at both ends of the floor, as she corralled nine defensive rebounds and eight at the offensive end. Along the way, she hit 8-for-13 from the floor and 9-for-11 from the free-throw line to amass her 25 points. Giroud followed with 12 points on 5-for-11 from the floor and narrowly missed a double-double of her own with seven rebounds, while adding two assists, two steals and two blocks. Saab contributed 11 points, four assists and three rebounds off the bench for the Ravens to round out the teams double-digit scoring.

Sorrell hit six of her 11 shots from the floor and also chipped in three blocked shots on the way to her double-double. She was joined in double digits for the Penmen by senior guard Megan Spanarkel, who added 12 points on 5-for-8 from the field. Senior guard Christine Duffy contributed 10 assists and four steals for SNHU, while senior forward Megan Smith led the Penmen off the bench with seven points.

The Ravens return to the court on Friday, Dec. 2, when they travel to Bridgeport for a non-conference contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium in Bridgeport, Conn. Franklin Pierce's next home game is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m. against Saint Anselm.
