Women's Basketball Standout Jewel White Named All-American by Women's Division II Bulletin

White named an All-American by each of the three major organizations for two years in a row

RINDGE, N.H. (March 29, 2012) -- Franklin Pierce University women's basketball standout Jewel White (Worcester, Mass.) was named a Fourth-Team All-American on Wednesday by Women's Division II Bulletin, a national publication devoted to the coverage of NCAA Division II basketball. It marks the third All-America award for White this season as she also earned third-team honors from Daktronics and honorable-mention status from the WBCA last week.

For the second-straight season she earned All-America honors from each of the three organizations. White picked up first-team status from both Daktronics and WDIIB in 2011, while also garnering honorable-mention accolades from the WBCA.

The senior center and co-captain produced an outstanding final season in Rindge in 2011-12 as she averaged a double-double of 16.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. She posted 22 double-doubles and scored 20-or-more points nine times. White finished her career with 1,432 points and 1,013 rebounds as became just the fourth player in program history to top 1,000 in both career scoring and boards.

White, three weeks ago, was named to the NCAA All-Regional team after she averaged 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in a pair of games in the NCAA Tournament. It marked the second time in her career she was named to the all-regional team and the first time since 2010 when she helped guide the Ravens to the East title and a trip to the Division II Final Four. White netted 25 points and 13 rebounds in a 78-68 win over fourth-seeded Pace on March 9 in the first round and followed with nine points and seven boards in a tough 54-52 loss to No. 5 nationally ranked Bentley in the second round on March 10.

White led the Ravens to another tremendous season in 2011-12, as Franklin Pierce produced a 20-10 record (the fifth-straight 20-win season and 14th overall) and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the fifth-straight year. Earlier this season, she was named to the All-Northeast-10 Conference First-Team and Daktronics All-East First-Team.
