Women's Basketball Standout Jewel White Earns Pair of Post-Season Accolades

White cements her legacy as one of the finest competitors in program history

RINDGE, N.H. (March 15, 2012) -- Franklin Pierce University women's basketball standout Jewel White (Worcester, Mass.) was recently recognized with a pair of post-season awards, which adds to her legacy as one of the finest players in program history. White was named to the 2012 Daktronics All-East Region First-Team, while also being placed on the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball East Regional All-Tournament team for her two impressive performances in the national tournament last weekend.

The senior center earned first-team honors from Daktronics for the second-consecutive season after she averaged a double-double of 16.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. She posted 22 double-doubles this season and scored 20-or-more points nine times. White finished her career with 1,432 points and 1,013 rebounds as became just the fourth player in program history to top 1,000 in both career scoring and boards. By being named to the Daktronics first-team, White will now move on for consideration for the organization's All-America squad. She was named a first-team All-American by Daktronics last season.

White was named to last weekend's NCAA All-Regional team after she averaged 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in a pair of games. It marked the second time in her career she was named to the all-regional team and the first time since 2010 when she helped guide the Ravens to the East title and a trip to the Division II Final Four. White netted 25 points and 13 rebounds in a 78-68 win over fourth-seeded Pace on Friday in the first round and followed with nine points and seven boards in a tough 54-52 loss to No. 5 nationally ranked Bentley in the second round on Saturday.

A senior captain, White helped to guide the Ravens to another tremendous season in 2011-12. Franklin Pierce produced a 20-10 record (the fifth-straight 20-win season and 14th overall) and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the fifth-straight year.
