Ravens Split Doubleheader in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. (3/3/25) - The Franklin Pierce softball team wrapped up Mondays doubleheader with a split. A quiet offensive performance in game one led to an 8-0 loss to Concordia St. Paul, that was quickly followed up by a 7 to 3 win over Staten Island in game two.

GAME 1 vs. Concordia St. Paul
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Bears of Concordia St. Paul got on the board in the first inning after loading the bases to start the top frame. Katie Klotz then hit into a fielder's choice allowing a run to score to give the Golden Bears the early 1-0 lead. The next at bat, Riley Rosenthal hit a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing in another run, extending the lead to 2-0. Then after a fielding error by the Ravens, allowed two more runs to score, now making it 4-0 after the first.
- In the third inning, Alexis Monty hit a double to left-center field cashing in two more Golden Bears to make it a 6-0 ballgame. Then an inning later, Bryleigh Dana sent one over the fence, blowing the game open on a two-run-homer, now making it a 8-0 game. The Raven offense was kept in check by Bowne who finished with giving up just two hits, those two Anna Erikson (Temecula, Calif.) and Andie Anderson (Phoenix, Ariz.); allowed and struck out three Ravens in her complete game shutout.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
- The Ravens were out hit by the Golden Bears 4-2.
- Georgia Clough (Barriere, British Columbia) suffered the loss giving up one hit, four runs, of which one was earned, striking out one and walking three batters in her one inning in the circle.
GAME 2 vs. Staten Island
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Ravens got on the board in the top of the first when Andie Anderson and Haley Bigwood (Athol, Mass.) reached base via a walk and fielding error that brought up Bella Williams (Phoenix, Ariz.) who tripled to left field, driving in Anderson and Bigwood. Charlit Hartenstein (Massapequa, N.Y.) later in the inning singled up the middle and brought home Williams, making it 3-0. Then Anna Erikson hit a triple to right-center field with two outs that brought in Hartenstein, extending the Raven lead to 4-0. Then after a wild pitch that walked Taylor Ellis (Crandall, Texas) to first, Erikson took advantage of the wild pitch and scored the Ravens fifth run of the inning, making it a 5-0 ballgame.
- Then in the second inning, after Williams was hit by a pitch, she stole second and set up Kaylee Fraund (Murietta, Calif.) who singled to right-center allowing Williams to cross the plate making it 6-0 Ravens.
- The Dolphins were able to muster a run in the bottom of the third when after a single from Aileen Balderas, brought up Anissa Acosta who doubled to left center and drove in Balderas getting the Dolphins on the scoreboard 6-1. The Dolphins added another run in the sixth when Olivia Wanser doubled to left field driving in Balderas making it 6-2. Bridget Motley then singled, advancing Wanser to third and set up Amanda Stocker who then singled to left and drove in another run for the Dolphins, cutting the lead in half, 6-3.
- The Ravens added some insurance runs in the seventh thanks to Erikson who tallied her second RBI of the game on a single to left field scoring the Ravens seventh run of the game, 7-3.
BREAKING DOWN THE NUMBERS
- Kennedy Morris (Stafford, Conn.) picked up the win after going five and two-thirds with three runs given up, one of which was earned, six hits and one strikeout to earn the win.
- The Ravens had eight hits to the Dolphins seven
- The Ravens had two errors while the Dolphins had three.
