Andrew Klaus Named Head Coach of Franklin Pierce Softball Program

RINDGE, N.H. (July 17, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Rachel Burleson has announced Andrew Klaus has been named the 12th head coach in the Division II era (since 1989) of the University’s softball program. Klaus will replace Hannah Griffin, who has resigned her position effective Aug. 3.

Zemaitis Pitches Her Way to NE10 Yearly Honors

Franklin Pierce University softball freshman Cyrena Zemaitis (Goshen, Conn.) has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team and was chosen to the NE10 Third Team as an At-Large selection it was announced Wednesday afternoon by the league offices.

Softball Takes Two Out of Three In Weekend Series at Merrimack

The Franklin Pierce University softball team took two out of three games against Northeast-10 Conference opponent Merrimack College this weekend to conclude their 2018 slate at 11-24, 8-17 NE10. Yesterday, the Ravens earned a shutout victory before splitting with the host Warriors today 7-1 and 3-2 on Martone-Mejail Field. Merrimack heads to the conference tournament with a 30-13 overall record and a 17-10 conference mark.

Zemaitis Spins Gem as Ravens Earn Shutout Victory

Franklin Pierce University softball freshman starting pitcher Cyrena Zemaitis (Goshen, Conn.) shutout Northeast-10 Conference opponent Merrimack College 1-0 Friday afternoon on Martone-Mejail Field. With the win, the Ravens topped double-digit victories for the third time in the past five years and collected their seventh conference win while the host Warriors drop to 29-12, 16-9 NE10.

Saint Michael’s Downs Franklin Pierce in Home Finale

The Saint Michael’s College softball program ended the Franklin Pierce University Ravens 2018 home schedule with a 7-3 victory at the Bisaccia Softball Complex Thursday evening. With the win, the Purple Knights charge ahead to 10-22, 7-15 NE10 while the Ravens fell to 9-23, 6-16 NE10.

The Franklin Pierce University softball team held a 1-0 advantage over the no. 1 ranked team in the east region, Southern New Hampshire University, but the Penmen scored twice in the top of the seventh to take the showdown 2-1 Tuesday afternoon at the Bisaccia Softball Complex. With the win, the Penmen improve to 34-10, 17-7 NE10 and the Ravens fall to 9-22, 6-15 NE10.

Sixth Inning Rally Not Enough As Assumption Hangs On To Best Ravens

Trailing 9-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Franklin Pierce University softball team scored four times to pull within two, but the Ravens were held out of the scoring column in the bottom of the seventh as Northeast-10 Conference opponent Assumption College completed the season series sweep with a 9-7 victory Sunday afternoon at the Bisaccia Softball Complex. With the win, the Greyhounds race out to 17-11, 12-6 NE10 and the Crimson and Grey lost their 21st contest overall and 14th in league play.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 21, 2018) – Of the eight runs allowed by the Franklin Pierce University softball team in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, only one was earned. Visiting Assumption capitalized on five errors by the Ravens to sweep a Northeast-10 Conference, Northeast Division doubleheader and spoil Senior Day at the Bisaccia Softball Complex. In the first game, Assumption used three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh, all unearned, to erase a 1-0 deficit on the way to a 4-1 win. In the second game, the Greyhounds trailed 2-1, but struck twice in the sixth and once in the seventh to put together a 4-2 victory.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 20, 2018) – A two-run homer by freshman third baseman Gina Hinckley (Lancaster, Mass.) in the second inning got the Franklin Pierce University softball team off to a strong start on Thursday afternoon. Senior first baseman Aubrey Bianco (Marlboro, N.Y.) later provided a key two-run double in the fifth and freshman right-hander Cyrena Zemaitis (Goshen, Conn.) struck out six over 6.2 scoreless innings, as the Ravens chalked up a 5-3 win over Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference, Northeast Division play at the Bisaccia Softball Complex.

Cortese Carries Ravens to Split at Southern New Hampshire

The Franklin Pierce University softball program led by senior right fielder Jaclyn Cortese (Upton, Mass.) split their two games against Northeast-10 Conference opponent Southern New Hampshire University as they defeated the Penmen 8-0 in game one before falling 7-2 in the nightcap. With the 1-1 effort, the Crimson and Grey move to 8-18, 5-11 NE10 while the hosts climb to 29-9, 12-6 NE10.

The split gives the Ravens their seventh win overall and fourth in league play while the Skyhawks drop to 7-20, 6-11 NE10.

The Franklin Pierce University softball team continued their long road swing as they were done in by Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Michael’s College 3-0 and 3-2 during a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader at Doc Jacobs Field. The losses were the Ravens 16th overall and ninth in league play while the Purple Knights won their sixth overall duel and third conference showdown.

With the split, the Crimson and Grey move to 6-14, 3-7 NE10 while the Chargers gallop to 13-16, 6-8 NE10.

The Franklin Pierce University softball team swept their second doubleheader of the season and the first against a Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saturday as they dispatched Southern Connecticut State University 4-1 and 9-4. With the wins, the Ravens improve to 5-13, 2-6 NE10 while the Owls drop to 5-15, 0-5 NE10. The Ravens two conference victories bested their 2017 total of one.

Franklin Pierce University softball freshman shortstop Ashley Rosario (Queensbury, N.Y.) plated three runs as the Crimson and Grey fell 7-4 to Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley University Tuesday afternoon. The victory improves the Falcons record to 8-15, 5-5 NE10 while the Ravens suffered 13th setback overall and remain winless in league play.
