Baseball's Ingui and Softball's O'Neal Named to 2010 NE-10 Spring All-Academic Teams
Duo honored for their work on the diamond and in the classroom
RINDGE, N.H. (June 24, 2010) – Franklin Pierce University standouts Derek Ingui (Sterling, Mass.) and Meaghan O’Neal (Littleton, Mass.) on Thursday were named to the 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Spring All-Academic Teams in baseball and softball, respectively.
Ingui, a junior third baseman, earned a spot on the academic squad after compiling a 3.80 cumulative grade point average in his major of biology. Ingui had a terrific 2010 season as he earned all-conference and all-regional honors, and helping to lead the Ravens to the NCAA East Regional championship and a trip to the semifinals of the Division II World Series. Ingui batted .326 with five home runs and 32 RBI. He also posted a .485 slugging percentage and stole 13 bases.
Ingui was honored for his academic work back in May as he was placed on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I First-Team.
O’Neal, a sophomore third baseman, earned a spot on the academic team after posting a 3.78 GPA in her major of sports and recreation management. She started all 43 games for Franklin Pierce at third base and finished second on the team in hitting at .304 (35-for-115) with seven doubles and one home run. She drove in a team-best 22 runs, scored seven times, worked 11 walks, slugged .391 and posted a .369 on-base percentage.
She, too, was honored by ESPN The Magazine in May as she garnered a spot on the publication’s Academic All-District I Third-Team.
