Griffin Named to Northeast-10 All-Conference Team

(May 4, 2008) – Freshman Emily Griffin (Leominster, Mass./Leominster) of the Franklin Pierce University softball team was honored by the Northeast-10 Conference with a spot on the All-Conference second team, it was announced on Sunday afternoon following the conference championship series.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 30, 2008) – The Franklin Pierce University softball team completed its 2008 season with a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader split against Saint Michael’s College on a blustery Senior Day at the Franklin Pierce Softball Field. The Purple Knights used a 10-run sixth inning to earn a 12-1 win in six innings in the first game, but the Ravens came back with a 9-1, five-inning victory in the nightcap.
Saint Rose Pitches Past Franklin Pierce in Sweep

(April 24, 2008) – College of Saint Rose pitching allowed only three hits in two games as the Golden Knights swept a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader from Franklin Pierce University on Thursday night at Esposito Field. Senior Kristen Calahan (LaGrange, N.Y./Arlington) tossed a no-hitter to lead the Golden Knights to an 8-0 win in game one, while junior Tracy Chesebrough (Duanesburg, N.Y./Duanesburg) gave up only three hits in a 2-1 game-two victory.
Franklin Pierce Earns Sweep over Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. (April 22, 2008) – Franklin Pierce University earned its first sweep of 2008 with a pair of victories over Assumption College in a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Marois Field. The Ravens took an early lead in game one and then scored once in the seventh inning to take a 5-4 win, and the visitors followed with an 8-1 victory in the second game to earn the sweep.
Surgen Named to NE-10 All-Academic First Team

(April 22, 2008) – Senior captain Kate Surgen (Southampton, Mass./ Hampshire Regional) of the Franklin Pierce University softball team was one of 11 players named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic First Team by the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors, the conference office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Southern Conn. Holds Off Franklin Pierce in Sweep

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 20, 2008) – Southern Connecticut State University needed rallies in both games to sweep Franklin Pierce University in a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader at Pelz Field on Sunday afternoon. The Owls scored once in the sixth to earn a 2-1 win in game one, then scored in each of the last two innings to take a 6-5, 11-inning victory in the second game.
Jacobs Leads Franklin Pierce to Split with Pace

(April 19, 2008) – Junior Courtney Jacobs (Fitchburg, Mass./Fitchburg) scattered two hits and struck out 10 batters as Franklin Pierce University earned a split with Pace University in a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the Franklin Pierce Softball Field. After falling in the first game, 5-3, the Ravens came back to earn a 3-0 in the second game of the day behind Jacobs.

(April 17, 2008) – Bentley College used solid pitching and timely hitting to take a pair of games from Franklin Pierce University in a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader at the Franklin Pierce Softball Field on Thursday afternoon. Bentley earned a 3-2 decision in eight innings to take the first game, then followed with a 7-0 victory in game two in the Ravens’ home opener.

(April 16, 2008) – The Franklin Pierce University softball team earned a hard-fought split with Northeast-10 Conference opponent Merrimack College in a conference doubleheader at Lassie League Field on Wednesday afternoon. After Merrimack took the first game, 4-1, the Ravens came back to force extra innings and eventually earned a 2-1 eight-inning win in the back end of the twinbill.

The Ravens came back late to earn a 5-3 win in the opening game before Saint Anselm took a 3-2 decision in the late game.

Dowling scored once in the bottom of the seventh to earn a 1-0 win in the first game, then plated one in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-3 win in the second contest.
