Men’s Track & Field Finishes Third at Panther Invitational

PLYMOUTH, N.H. (February 8, 2020) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's track and field team competed at the Panther invitational hosted by Plymouth State University on Saturday. The Ravens took third, out of 11 teams.

In the short distance events, sophomore Ethan Pezzullo (Bristol, R.I.) took fourth in the 60-meter dash after a 7.26-second finish. He was followed by senior Gerald Leith (Dorchester, Mass.), who took sixth for his 7.41-second performance. In the 200, Pezzullo returned to run a 24.13 and claim fifth. After a 56.35-second time, senior Tyler Hayes (Kings Park, N.Y.) took eighth in the 400. Fellow senior Trevor Guay (Londonderry, N.H.) dominated in the 600, taking first place by over four seconds with his 1:25 time. Junior Antonia Rua (Burrillville, R.I.) followed right behind with a 1:29 time. In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Sekou Veillard (Davie, Fla.) took third for his 8.97-second time.

In the distance events, graduate student William Rawson (Atherton, England) took fourth after running a 4:39 in the mile. He was followed by freshman Zach Aham (Nottingham, N.H.), who took sixth in the event after his 4:42 finish. Senior Walker John (Boscawen, N.H.) also competed, taking eighth for his 4:43 performance. The Ravens entered seven runners in the 3000 meters, and then all seven finished in the top nine spots. Junior Hugo Arlabosse (Marseille, France) took first place in the event after running an 8:55. He was followed by senior Jason Reed (Foxborough, Mass.), who took second after an 8:57 run. In fourth was junior Ryan Ducrow (Amesbury, Mass.), who ran a 9:22. Sophomore William Aylward (Peabody, Mass.) took fifth for his 9:24 finish, with Aham right behind to claim sixth for his 9:26.56 time. Junior Cody Tallent (Bellows Falls, Vt.) ran a 9:26.60 to claim seventh, followed by John in ninth after his 9:48 run. Sophomore Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) took first place in the 5,000-meter run after his 15:40 time. He was followed by freshman Ibrahim Ayyash (Worcester, Mass.), who claimed third place after his 18:02 run.

The relays fared well as well for the ravens. In the 4x200-meter relay, Arlabosse, Aylward, Hayes and Rua took fifth for their 1:39 time. In the 4x400, a lineup of Arlabosse, Aylward, Fenoff and Rawson took second in 3:39.

Field events also saw some success. Sophomore Aaron Young (Colchester, Conn.) claimed third in the pole vault for his 3.85-meter vault. In the long jump, freshman Harchdy Souffrance (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) jumped 6.48 meters to claim third place. In the shot put, sophomore Armani Mette (Randolph, Mass.) took fifth for his 13.05-meter throw. He was followed by freshman Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.), who took sixth for his 12.87-meter throw.

The Ravens will be back in action next Friday and Saturday in Boston, for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University.
